Leonardo Book - Curiosita
I know I wasn't there for our discussion on this topic on Sunday, so I guess I will just give my input on what I learned and experienced with the Curiosita section. It was interesting because going into it, I thought that it was going to be the usual items that I find in my life to be most difficult or give me the most stress. And as I went through the chapter, especially the free write part, I really came across a lot of things that I stress out about but I guess never really do anything about. One of my questions I came up with was How do I balance my work life with my home life? I am getting better at this as I increase my years of teaching experience but I still struggle to not bring things home at night or to just relax once I walk in the door. My family has made comments about how I need to let school go, but I feel like I want to be my best teacher self and home self. It's really hard for me. So if anyone has any suggestions, I would gladly take them! :)

I agree with you there. My first two yers of teaching I would stay late every night and come in on wekends or be taking things home every night. After we had class this summer I realized that I needed to stop doing that and when I am at home try to focus on my home life. This year has been so much better for me. I feel more organized and prepared and not so stressed because I am taking the time to relax at home and not think about work 24-7. I don't really have any tips but I found that keeping myself organized and taking the time for myself made me feel less stressed about work.
ReplyDeleteI find the Leonardo book to be very enlightening. It really helps me delve deeper into my thoughts and beliefs. I have been surprised by some of the things that I have found. For example, I had never thought of role models and anti-role models in that way. We all have people we look up to and people we disagree with, but I have never analyzed that so deeply. I certainly never thought about that being the same person. I am truly enjoying learning so much more about myself as a person and a teacher.
